Why I built this
Managing a YouTube channel requires multiple disciplines: research, writing, voice recording, editing, and SEO description optimization. I built this system to automate the entire production line of a faceless YouTube channel, turning raw topic ideas into fully generated and uploaded long-form or short-form videos.
How it works
The workflow begins with a topic input. The system asks an LLM to generate a detailed, structured script. It then sends this script to a Text-to-Speech API (like ElevenLabs) to produce a natural-sounding voiceover. Next, a Python script downloads royalty-free background footage or generates images matching script segments, syncs them to the audio track, and adds styled subtitles. Finally, it formats the title, tags, and description using SEO optimization, and uploads the video as a draft or scheduled post via the YouTube Data API.
Key decisions

Design choices

Automating video edits via code

Using manual video editors takes hours. I designed Python scripts to automate scene transitions, audio ducking (reducing background music when voiceover plays), and caption synchronization programmatically.

Modular AI integration

I kept the prompt templates separate from the code so I could easily tune the scriptwriting style or switch between OpenAI and Anthropic models depending on cost and quality.

Challenges

Problems solved

Syncing captions with audio timing

Generating subtitles that align perfectly with the voiceover required parsing word-level timestamps returned by the TTS engine and drawing them onto individual frames of the video.

What I learned
I gained massive experience working with the YouTube Data API, handling OAuth 2.0 refresh tokens securely in a background task, and dealing with programmatic video compilation. It taught me how to break down a creative process into logical rules and algorithmic steps that code can execute.
