Why I built this
I found a contractor website (360unitedestimates.com) that had solid content but looked completely outdated. I saw an opportunity: rebuild it with a production-grade 3D interface, smooth micro-interactions, and a custom tour-guide bot, then pitch it directly to the owner as a showcase of what their site could look like.
How it works
Built on React + TypeScript with shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS, the app combines dark-mode aesthetics with subtle 3D background elements. A custom tour-guide chatbot walks prospective clients through the contractor's services and answers FAQs in real time. The layout is structured as a single-page marketing funnel optimized for conversion, leading visitors directly to a calendar booking widget.
Key decisions

Design choices

Proactive spec work as a sales tool

Instead of cold-pitching a redesign with mockups, I built the actual thing. A live, clickable site is a far more convincing pitch than a PDF. The risk was building something for free, but the upside was a real differentiator.

Tour-guide bot for onboarding new visitors

Contractor services can feel abstract. Adding a chatbot that greets visitors and offers tailored walkthroughs improved session duration and made the site feel significantly more interactive.

Challenges

Problems solved

Reverse-engineering content without access to original assets

I had to reverse-engineer the structure of the original site from the live version alone — no design files, no CMS access. This meant inferring content hierarchy and recreating assets from scratch.

What I learned
Spec work is uncomfortable because you're investing time with no guaranteed return. But building a live demo taught me more about persuasive design — what makes a visitor stay, click, and convert — than any course. It also confirmed that the fastest path to landing a client is sometimes just showing them what's possible.
